This is the new manifestation of my old RP character. He may be further tweaked, but I just want to get him up for now.
General
First name: Russell
Last name: McBride
Middle name (if applicable/desired): N/A
Age: 27
Eye Color: Dark blue
Hair Color: Russet brown
Physical Description: Russell is about 5' 10", of solid build and in decent shape, with a wash of faded freckles across his face.
Occupation: Parking valet at the Gregory Manor Hotel
Residence: Berma Apartments, 627
Personality & Background
Sports/Hobbies: When angry or stressed, Russell goes for long runs along the beach, pushing his body by running in the dry sand instead of the wet. Physical exercise tends to be a release for him, while for fun he would much rather be by himself and read. He is always reading something, as the vast collection of tomes that reside in cardboard boxes throughout his apartment would suggest.
Likes: Although Russell does not have many friends, he likes the company of others; he has never been one to sit by his lonesome in his apartment. He likes talking just for the sake of conversation, and arguing just for the sake of argument: he'll gleefully fight with anybody who'll take the bait. Alcohol often plays a dark role in this instigation of trouble, but he's rather aggressive even when sober. His relationships with woman are in nature like his friends: few, but otherwise nonexistent. Although he is getting older and would like to settle down, he can't help but continue on his self-destructive path of flitting from one girl to another. He likes his woman dark-haired and possessing the ability to prove themselves to be of his intellectual level—that is, possessing the ability to put him in his place.
Dislikes: Although Russell loves to talk, he's quick to shut his mouth whenever the conversation takes a personal turn. Not only does he dislike talking too personally about himself, he'll flat-out refuse to do it, turning into a bit of a recluse. He also abhors his job, as he sees the task of parking other people's (rich people's) cars as demeaning. He's not much into the nightlife scene, either; he feels too old for it now, and—much as is his extremist way—enjoys drinking to get drunk, not to be social or to bond. He can't dance. He can't swim. He's actually afraid of the water, not that he'd ever tell anybody that. Most of all, however, he dislikes Lake Owensway.
Family & Background Story: Russell has lived in Lake Owensway for all of his life. His parents divorced when he was young, and he has seen his father only infrequently since. His mother, from whom he has gotten his nasty dependence on alcohol, raised him until he was fifteen: her body was found in the rock caves off the seashore, with too little evidence to correctly call it an accident or a suicide. Since then, Russell's grandfather has been overseeing Russell into the adult years of his life. As time has passed, however, his elderly grandfather has only grown more elderly, and Russell has come to find himself taking care of the man who once took care of him, stuck among the books in the small apartment that they share. Russell wants a better life than what he sees for himself in Lake Owensway, but he has never been able to leave.
General Personality: Aggressive, impulsive, and scathingly honest by nature—and of course eloquent in speech—Russell takes great pleasure in starting trouble, often coming off as a jerk to both those who know him and those who don't. Here, his quick-to-talk mentality plays a large hand, but it is usually all in good nature (unless alcohol is involved—then he just becomes nasty). Although he had always done poorly in school as a child, he is actually incredibly intelligent, and yet he tends to use this intelligence more for harm than help. If he is modest about nothing else, he is at the very least modest about this. His most endearing quality is perhaps his loyalty. When he truly cares for another person, he will stand by them with little regard for the personal consequences. When he does something, he does it passionately and whole-heartedly.
