Oh I loved Cinna! I almost cried when I found out he died. No joke. And I liked Prim too. But it kinda seemed like Katniss wasted her time going through the Hunger Games just to have Prim die anyway...

I think that's the point for the book. The amount of suffering the Hunger Games caused, even after they were over. I don't like Prim much, funnily enough, but I'm most like her and Katniss out of all the characters. I'm sensitive, adore animals and like Prim but I'm like Katniss in the area of being cynical and sarcastic.

Prim was always the stereotypical little sister to me, and for some reason I've always adored that.
Finnick and his wife (I forgot her name. Did they even marry yet? I don't remember...) touched me too. They were just the cutest couple I've seen in a long time.

Annie! Yeah, I knew it was a strangely common name for that book...
Ah! I just love them.

I had never heard of it until I was researching an actor I really liked, and they were like, "He should play in Hunger Games!" I actually thought it was a game company or something. I was so confused! I still don't really know what it's about, all I know is there is a lot of blondes in it?

It's a book, being made into a movie. There's not a lot of blondes in it. Anyway, it's a great book, you should read it.

It's about America, but under different circumstances, so that there are Twelve districts governed by the Capitol who live in the city of Panem. Each district is famed for making something, be it mining coal or growing food. The districts are not well looked after and answer to the Capitol which is full of the flamboyant and greedy. Once upon a time district thirteen decided to rebel and was believed to have been beaten by the Capitol and be gone. As a result of this, the Capitol holds 'Hunger Games' every year to assert their authority and remind the people that they can take away their lives just like that - for entertainment even. The Hunger Games are basically a reality TV show, where children between the age of 11/12 - 18 are placed in an arena and made to fight to the death, only if other things don't get them first. Katniss is the main character, and ends up in the HG, and you basically follow her through all the publicity events before hand, and the games themselves. Maybe spoilers below... Oh thank god! I really didn't like Prim either (just jumping into this from random parts of the thread), she was just so weak and feeble. I mean fine, she's 11 or something and you don't want to send her to her death, but at least give her character a bit of umph. And given how it ends, I was always sort of like... 'Oh, so there was no point in any of it really.' I hated Peeta until the last book. His romantic nonsense really annoyed me, and his displays of it made me cringe. I loved Gale, he was there first anyway - sort of, and idk, just wanted Peeta to discover he was confused about his sexuality or something and make it easy to decide. Though I don't like Liam Hensworth, I know he was in Neighbours(?) and a few other things, but he's not my Gale. In the end my love for Gale faded in the last book when he became a bit obsessed with the war and weapons and stuff, and you just wanted him to chill out a bit. So, I sort of reverted to team Peeta when he was all broken and murdery and had something about him for the first time ever I don't know if I love the books, it took a lot of commitment to get through the first one because I hate things written in present tense, and it didn't seemed to have a lull at the start, but once I got through that one I was well away, and really shocked by how it all went down in the end... though it left me quite angry

I kind of ended up liking Prim in the end. Because they showed a bit more of her personality. I didn't really like Peeta until the last book to. I can just imagine the scene where he tells Katniss and District 13 about the bombings! Although, Finnick always will be my favourite. He's got so much depth...

Finnick! He was the only character that I felt I had any connection with, the humour, the swimming, and he was all around lovable. When he kicked the bucket I threw one helluva a paddy, I really didn't want to continue reading, especially after he died in such a horrible way, only my love for Gale kept me going, and even then I ended up liking him less as the book went on . I loved the whole Finnick and Annie relationship too

Yeah Gale made me mad at the end with his "We must fight!!!" attitude and then just leaving everyone for the capitol in the very end. I guess I don't blame him for that part though. I'd probably leave for better opportunities too.
But I never loved Peeta. He annoyed me in the first couple books and then when he went all crazy in the last and annoyed and frustrated me even more when he was trying to regain his memory. I know that it was sweet with all the "Real or not reals", but, Idk. I think Katniss should have left them both.

**More spoilers**
Yeah, his craziness wound me up at first, and then I quite liked it because he kept trying to kill Katniss which was entertaining for me. She couldn't whinge when she was being strangled.
I think I liked Gale more as well because his crush on Katniss flowed and seemed more natural, I loved that he said something like "I realised that it bothered me," because between friends those are how these things develop. But Peter's whole love at first sight thing really had me fed up, I was hoping he'd die, and then in the end I was more gutted for Gale than anyone else and pretty peeved that Pim died, as it was all started off in order to save her in the first place, so it just felt sort of redundant to me in the end.
I'd have liked it more if Peeta died, Gale got Katniss, Pim went off to be a doctor somewhere, Finnick lived in place of one of the others and idk what else, I just was not happy with the ending - but then again it stuck with me more because of that.

But Peter's whole love at first sight thing really had me fed up, I was hoping he'd die, and then in the end I was more gutted for Gale than anyone else I know. The whole love at first sight thing irritates me to no end. It's just not real and believable. I guess that was one of my problems with Romeo and Juliet. Ha reading this thread makes me want to push the Hunger Games up on my summer rereading list.

It's pretty fresh in my mind, I only got through them a few months ago. I've got the Game of Thrones series, True Blood Sookie Stackhouse novels and the remaining two Alex Rider books to read this holiday But yes, Gale FTW! The last book was cruel to him and his character, totally derailing everything I wanted him to be and have >:-(
