As the title says... Do you pick one sole genre (such as pop) to listen to & refuse anything else, open to everything, or a general mix of your faves? Don't be afraid to be specific, I'm gonna be the first in this topic to say I like (but not love) the Hanna Montana/Miley Cyrus & Jonas brothers music, after all! ;D
My roots are country, but varients like Shania Twain, Toby Keith's cleaner levels of music (My List, etc), Martina McBride, Garth Brooks, & very similar artists in that genre. I DESTEST beer, drinking songs, & those of close range that focus on the cheaters & the "WHAA I got dumped! >.<" junk. Too depressing on the latter in particular. They can be fun though, so it all depends on the song's mood.
________
I've branched out into Pop music such as those listed above, but I *CAN'T STAND* songs that have swearing a mile a minute in them, but one in the entire song isn't *too* bad, provided its not too touchy & all, ya'know, the typical Christianity look on the genre.
Main reason I even took a glance at this area of music was because I happen to be a bigtime cartoon couples' supporter. So I like to find songs that fit the bill of certain pairs, like for example, Beast Boy & Terra off the Teen Titans cartoon that began on CartoonNetwork half a decade ago.
Also, I just like the happy-go-lucky songs about BFF lovers, or about family, & best friends in general. Its a way to get me happier (lol if I listened to the "aah she dumped me" junk as mentioned earlier all the time, I'd go NUTSO. XD), & even get my energy kicked into high gear.
Especially if its about patriotic music, GOD I'll play those twenty times per song if I'm in the mood. (& after a certain WIN WIN of our USA's recently, iPod's gettin' a workout lately. More than usual at least)
Favorite music player? Gotta be anything that can be on the go, like the above. I don't care WHAT per say, but I do have a fondness for the giant space, & easy-to-use playlists that iPods have. Plus I can put almost my entire VIDEO collection in the thing, & still have room.

I don't stick to one genre, but whatever tickles my fancy. Mostly it's alternative, goth, rock, ragtime and blues. Quite the range.

I'm one of the only people I know who listens to rap music genuinely and exclusively. I've never listened to anything else, and I probably never will, considering I never listen to the radio. However, I don't like whatever this new brand of rap is that has appeared in recent years; I detest it, actually. It's all slow rhymes, simple lyrics, and catching beats.
My favorite rappers have to be Busta Rhymes, David Banner, Eminem (his earlier stuff, especially), Mystikal, David Banner, Nas, Nelly, the St. Lunatics, Biggie, Snoop Dog, and D12. But then I also have a bunch freestyles and various tracks by artists that, while I don't usually listen to their stuff, I love to listen to.
Oh, and I buy CDs regularly and use an MP3 player. No iPods or iTunes (or any other music-downloading site like that) for me.

I'm gonna be the first in this topic to say I like (but not love) the Hanna Montana/Miley Cyrus & Jonas brothers music, after all! ;D AH LOVE ;D! All of my friends are music snobs, so I used to only listen to Indie music. But then I stopped caring, and now all I listen to is like 8 year old music. Right now, I'm listening to a lot of Disney, Hillary Duff, Kelly Clarkson, Vanessa Carlton, Mandy Moore, A-Teens, *NSYNC, Backstreet Boys, Britney Spears, etc. Also, ditto the thing about patriotic music . "I'm Proud to be an American" (especially Beyonce's cover) is like my fave song right now . When they started to play it on the radio again, I was surprised that I still remembered all the words .

I listen to whatever I want to, really. I love sort of 'acoustic rock' (Jack Johnson, Paolo Nutini), that's my favouritist genre. I like some really random stuff, Classical music is my favourite thing to listen to when I'm writing actually. Yeah though, I don't so much like Pop, I have quite a lot on my iPod but it's not really my thing anymore. I also don't like all the club type songs, where everybody's having 'it' with everybody, and nobody cares about thoughts and feelings, you know the sort?
I have some Disney music too... Like the soundtracks from the Lion King and Brother Bear. I would say I was ashamed, but really, I'm not. I <3 them!!!

Country is my thing. Mainly contemporary country like Rascal Flatts, Kieth Urban, Taylor Swift, yadda yadda yadda, but I do like some of the older stuff from time to time. Lately I've started to get into the pop and rock genre too and it's been fun to experiment with different sounds. I have an iPod, but I do buy CD's all the time still. There's nothing like having a solid copy of your music. <3

I listen to a lot of things, really.
I'm very partial to Evanescence, Three Days Grace, and Skillet, though I'm not all into that whole Rock/Depressed music that people think these bands are all about. I love a lot of songs that play on the radio, though I don't fancy rap or hip-hop just because I find it hard to listen to. I love All-American Rejects, too. I've been listening to their music for who knows how long.

Oh snap. Honestly I listen to genres all overbite table. Poprock/Indie/Alternative/Punk/Oldies you name it.
There are so many artists I listen to it's hard to name them. (mainly because I listen to the radio and go buy my favorite songs)
But my all-time favorite song when I was little was Barbie Girl. Haha. And I sometimes listen to Disney, Hilary Duff (I have 2 of her CDs), Cheetah Girls.
But I HATE Justin Bieber. Ugh. Just his music. I admit he's cute.

Recently I've discovered French Piano Accordions and I adore it. I don't really like mainstream pop and I really hate Justin Bieber. I don't even find he's cute!

I listen to exclusively classic rock, progressive rock, psychedelic rock, arena rock, and some new wave.
But I also love classic soul and R&B. I guess it's cos I'm from Philly.

I don't think I've every listened to one genre of music exclusively. I'll listen to pretty much any kind of music and I'm willing to listen to more genres. At the moment, my iPod looks like this: Alternative Punk R&B Soul Rap Rock Pop Reggae Like I said, I'll listen to anything.

My music selection seems very random at times. The only genres I cannot quite stand are Rock (too loud) and Jazz (too, too slow and sombre).
I love to dance, so I I like catchy tunes that inspire me, like Pop, Reggae, etc. I also listen to gospel music (especially when I'm sad or depressed or stressed out); and I listen to Rap and R&B when I need inspiration or whenever I have to write out some sort of unique story scene - this varies...it could be a walk in the park, a love scene, party scene~ the list is endless.
I sometimes listen to Disney music.
I have a very extensive list of favorite artists...Keri Hilson, Beyonce, Mariah Carey, Whitney Huston, Shaina Twain, Miley, Selena G, Demi, Tiffany Thorton, Justin Bieber (a little), Jonas brothers, and so on.
If I had a theme song for my life, it would have to be "I Surrender" by Celine Dion; perhaps "Circle of Life" -> Lion King.

I don't listen to any one particular genre. Pop is what I listen to pretty much to though. Whatever ends up top of the charts, I will most like, love, or at least listen to passively. Especially like Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, Coldplay, Jessie J, Rihanna and Adele at the moment, but I don't necessarily have any of their albums. I like what I will call 'boy band music' because though mostly pop stuff, that can be any mix of genres. My favourites would be The Script, The Killers, Keane, The Wanted, McFly, Take That, insert multiple others here. I like to listen to movie soundtracks. I have the LOTR, Mamma Mia, James Bond, and Shrek ones on my computer.
