So I was wondering if anyone here has played The Sims Medival yet. It looks really cool, and I think my brother is going to buy it, but I want to know if it's all it's cracked up to be or something that looks better in the previews (*cough*TS3*cough*). Can anyone give me a review of it?

I wish I could, but I have sworn off anything to do with Sims 3. I know that before Sims 3 came out there was a huge group of people that wanted an expansion pack for Sims 2 like this, but I guess EA saved this idea for Sims 3.
I'm guessing this is a stand-alone type game (sort of like Sims Life Stories, Sims Pet Stories, and Sims Castaway?)

Yeah I'm pretty sure it is. I'm actually kind of afraid it will be like TS3 (I don't have TS3 personally, but what I hear the graphics are terrible). I don't know. I'm a huge Harry Potter fan and I always wanted a Sims Harry Potter game. This is the closest thing that's avaliable.

I 'heard it through the grapevine...' that you can't play everyone in the premade family ! I'm thinking , 'what's that supposed to accomplish ?', I mean, why would sims3 make some sims within a lot/household that are npc's ?? Strange. I don't do s3, but it would have been nice to have an exp. pack for medieval .

Thanks Caitlin, that really helped! ;D I can't believe that the kids don't ever grow up!! But the beast in the pit looks very amusing.

I wanted to be able to play as a peasant but you can't do that (I don't think) and just grow up kids.. And also, I believe once you accomplish your Kingdom's big goal or whatever, you can't continue with it.. you have to start all over.. I THINK, I don't KNOW.. I don't have the game and don't plan on getting it xP.

Yeah, I think I'm gonna pass on this too. It does not sound worth my hard earned $50...
Maybe when the price has gone down or if they release an expansion pack I'll buy it.

wont be getting it, unless someone presents me with a copy as a present, and then i'll playtest it, like i did TS3. I know EA are having a half price sale at the EA store now but i doubt i'll be getting anything unless i can fix my EADM

But I don't think there will be expansions .. Yeah I know, it'll probably be like the other oneshot games (for the lack of a better name) like Life Stories and Castaway and just have one game with it. *sigh* Oh EA, why do you create something that could be so good and blow it with crappy programing??

Hey there. I've been stalking the Sims Medieval threads on the EA website to hear what the main problems have been. So far, Sims medieval has not only been incredibly buggy (nothing new there), but buggy to the point where the game can become unplayable. People have been complaining about having to restart the game over and over when their sim glitches in the "forest", or a mission glitches and so on.
The Sims Medieval is also completely unlike anything the Sims as we know it in that it is not a sandbox. Rather it has guided game play. (Think Sims Life stories series). You can make children, but they don't grow up or replace their parent when said parent has died. (I died a little inside when I heard this). With that being said, there is no aging.
There is no build mode. You can change the plants and wall hangings around. The buildings come pre-made and are pre-set in their spots.
Also, there isn't a lot of free time to do as you wish. You must complete quests as well as daily chores or you get placed in the stocks. As I said, it's guided gameplay.
However, with all the negatives, which are way to big for me, the sims themselves are supposed to be funny and personable. There are many different traits which your sims act out, such as glutton, lecherous, ect. The different heros also have different jobs/roles.
I think it's an interesting game, but it needs more. I am personally glued to the medieval boards until I hear better things, such as an awesome EP. (Doubtful). I want my sandbox mode medieval style. Who knows, if they get smart, they may award us with what (most) of us want.
