My boyfriend got really mad at me the one time because I thought the Hobbit was a book which was already in the Lord of the Rings..

Sorry guys, I just realised that I seem to be spamming this thread a little... Don't worry, I feel like I'm spamming the whole BBS. I registered in late April and I already have so many posts... It's not intentional, I just have a lot to talk about. I've been starved of other Simmers for ages.

Hm, let's see...
- Percy Jackson and the Olympians series by Rick Riordan - Atherton series by Patrick Carman - The Shining by Stephen King - Happyface by Stephen Emond - Kira-Kira by Cynthia Kadohata
I have never read the Harry Potters or Hunger Games. Honestly, I have a short attention span, and I just could not finish the first of those series. The thing with Harry Potter is that I've seen every movie more than three times, so it's kind of repetitive with way more description.
My absolute favorite book is FEED by Mira Grant. ZOMBEHS.

The Lucky One by Nicholas Sparks
I've never been a huge fan of Nicholas Spark's books, but this one just left me breathless.

I'll have to check some of the titles you and the others are talking about (eg: The Book Thief). I'm a book hoarder. I have an addiction to owning them - even if I will never get a chance to read them. I own a lot of old publications, including an 1853 family bible which has hand tinted colour plates. I started reading Harry Potter to my son when it first came out. I think I got about 1/4 of the way in, and stopped - he read the rest himself, and then read it four more times before he got the next one. I never picked the books up again. One of my favourite books is a YA book: Catherine, Called Birdy. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Catherine,_Called_Birdy It's really well told. I love history, and this one is well researched, and has been used in schools as well. I read anything by Ian Rankin, but most especially his John Rebus novels. I loved The Gun Seller by Hugh Laurie, and I would like to see him get time to get the next book out. He's a gifted writer as well as a gifted actor. I am a big fan of Kim Harrison aka Dawn Cook, and "Kim"'s Hollows series is probably my favourite out of all the reads. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kim_Harrison I am waiting for her next book to co0me out, and I will probably re-read the rest of the series again just because. Right now I am on book three of her Truth series - written under her real name, Dawn Cook. They are enjoyable, but nothing like the fun of the Hollows series. I have just recently learned of how truly gifted Terry Pratchett is, and I'm done reading Mort, the fourth book in his Disc World series. He's hilarious, brilliant, and sadly won't be writing for much longer. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Terry_Pratchett I plan to own everything he writes. I will also read anything by Sophie Kinsella, and there is a fun series written by a woman named Gemma Halliday, about a young woman who designs shoes and solves murders and mysteries in her off-time. I read Kathy Reichs (the woman behind the TV show Bones), but her books end up the same after a while - same lines, same descriptions. It's kind of like writing a legacy...

I've always wanted to read some of her books! Somewhat because I love Bones and somewhat because my best friend is the hugest Bones/mystery in general lover I know and I can gloat in her face. I'm going to have to find them.

^^^ I've got a few of them to read, but in all honesty I've owned them since season 1 of Bones and not got around to it yet. I think I'm going to try over summer .

I've recently fallen in love with Neil Gaiman's work, especially Neverwhere. Ahh, I've only read one of his books, 'The Graveyard Book' as it was shortlisted for some reading challenge that my school does with 1st years. (I'm 4th Year, but anywho!) I thought it was very well written, but quite confusing. I'll probably have to read it a few more times before it sinks in.

I love to read: it relaxes me and distracts me from things in my life I need distracted from.
I have so many I would call favorites but my favorite authors are: Jennifer Weiner, Jane Green and Tess Gerritson (if you watch Rizzoli and Isles on TNT, the characters are based on her books).

My current favorite books are The Chronicles Of Narnia, Harry Potter, and Twilight. I'm on my third time through Narnia and my sixth time through Twilight. I was trying to read Harry Potter a second time, but I misplaced the book again. I'm also reading, but not absorbed in the Golden Compass series, I'm on the second book in that series I think its called The Subtle Knife. Growing up, I really enjoyed reading the Hardy Boys I have so many of their books that I never finished reading all of them and I will still occasionally pull one out to read. I will occasionally read one of my CSI books too.

Another serial bookworm here. Finished reading the new Skulduggery Pleasant book (by Derek Landy - the best so far!) yesterday, 600 pages over two days. Usually I get through them faster the first time, then re-read them to get more detail. I finished Deathly Hallows and Breaking Dawn in one day each, but it did mean staying awake literally half the night too... A bit mental, but that's what a good book does to you. (In BD's case, well, that was two years ago and I'm firmly over my obsession now. ) My favourites are mostly in the sci-fi/fantasy realm. Guess which category in the Exchange I used to stalk? I have a lot of PC Cast's work, but the HON series has fallen from my favours recently. I prefer her Partholon Series, and her Godess Summoning one isn't too bad either. Eden Maguire's Beautiful Dead books are original and I love the way she writes. Smexy zombies for the win! My ultimate favourite in zombie lore though is the Generation Dead series by Daniel Waters. I think there might be a fourth book, or at least I'm hoping. Kelley Armstrong writes my favourite grown-up paranormal stuff. I'm trying to get all the Otherworld books at the moments. I just love the characters, the creatures and the way they all connect. I prefer some of the viewpoints to others, but the books are always fantastic. I've already fangirled about Skulduggery. Erm, also Robin Wasserman's Skinned trilogy. I picked up the first book by chance at an airport and I must have read several times by now. I need to pick up the last book soon though, because of October it's going to be renamed as the Cold Awakening trilogy, with new covers and book names. Lemme see... Anything by Meg Rosoff. Anything by Siobhan Dowd. The Artemis Fowl series by Eoin Colfer is epic too. I've been getting those since I was about eleven, so I don't feel too much shame that I'm still reading them! After buying seven of them, I might as well keep going until they're finished. They are considered kids books, but it's hard enough to get your head around them even as an older reader. Finally, I read Dracula recenty. It was hard to get into it and long, but so worth it. I actually brought it on holidays with me! Totally your normal holiday read. But it's a great book, even more than a century after its publication. [/end serial book rambling] Long post, but it's out of my system now at least. ^^ I might check back here, when I'm searching for something new to read.
