MoonLight-Prologue
“I want to go on the balcony.” Dannilyn said in a tone that suggested her request was more like a demand. Lynn looked at her, with a worried look in her eyes. “I told you sweetie, it’s too dangerous. And you’re not allowed on the balcony ever.” Dannilyn narrowed her eyes, which had begun to glow, making the filmy, purple colouring even eerier. “I want to go on the balcony,” Dannilyn said again. “And I will go with or without you mom.”
Lynn shook her head. Her 8 year old daughter was a spoiled brat and she knew it. Unfortunately her guilt wouldn’t allow her to do anything about it. “I can’t talk you Dannilyn. I’m sorry. Maybe we could go to the little park instead?” Lynn whispered, a pained look on her face, as if denying Dannilyn what she wanted was painful. Dannilyn glared at her mom. “No.” she said firmly pressing her lips together tightly. “I want to go to the balcony. And I will.” Dannilyn spun on her heels, heading towards the bedroom door. “Dannilyn!” Lynn shouted after the little girl. When Dannilyn continued towards the balcony, Lynn dashed after her, throwing her arms around Dannilyn’s waist pulling her away from the door.
Dannilyn raged. She kicked and hissed, flailed and screamed. Lynn didn’t release her though. Few things did she not allow her daughter to get her way on and this was one. The balcony was to open and treacherous, and the simplicity of reaching it from the bottom floor made it an off limit place. Lynn could not afford to lose her only little girl, and the human race could not survive little Dannilyn being kidnapped.
Slowly Dannilyn quit fighting and relaxed. “I’m hungry.” She said softly. Lynn just nodded before heading to the kitchen, Dannilyn trailing behind her.
