Okay, I downloaded these apartments: www.modthesims.info/d/469912 and they're supposed to be working, but when I try to get my sim to rent an apartment, my game freezes! I thought I fixed the problem by moving the sim out and moving the apartment somewhere else, and that did work for one sim, but now I want to move another sim into another unit, and when I try to get him to rent another unit, my game freezes, and I get the application has crashed message. I don't know what to do because I've never had this happen in my game before.

Eheh, you're link's a little messed up (the code is [ url="place url here w/o quotations" ]"Name of page title or whatever"[ /url ], or if you just want the url, you don't need the [ url ] [ /url ] there).
I'm not sure if this is it, but I think it may be something you downloaded. Oftentimes these problems are induced by a bad download, so you may want to do something about it. What I do is I take the downloads folder, rename it to something like "Downloooads" and then start up the game again. It instantly respawns a new Downloads folder and since there's nothing in it, there will be no more downloads in your game (to get your downloads back all you have to do is delete the respawned downloads folder and then rename your actual downloads folder "Downloads"). And then there's something I need to be clarified: does this happen only with this particular apartment complex, or is it with all houses and apartment complexes? If the former, then I'm stumped.

Do you have all of the EPs/SPs that the download requires?
Also, I don't know if this would help anything, but you could change the lot zoning to residential and then back to apartment complex (You can get the actual cheat by typing "help" in the cheat box). Maybe that'll reset it or something, but I don't know.

I tried playing it with my downloads folder taken out, and I tried rezoning the lot into residential and back to apartments, I tried moving it to a different neighborhood, and I tried it in an empty neighborhood. It just freezes my game and crashes it. Thanks for your help, but I guess it just won't work in my game, which is a shame because it's perfect for my sims.

Okay, I don't know if this will work, but I went to the comments thread for the lot and some people said they were having troubles with it and then the creator referred them to one comment in particular... This is what they said about fixing it: I know this is way late, but on the offchance that anyone else like me is still playing Sims 2 I thought I'd comment. I loved this lot, but like the above people I could not stop it from freezing after I rented an apartment. I'm persistent, however, (and the lot is perfect for some of my Sims) and finally after testing everything I could think of to test, I found out that it would work if I put it in the shopping district, but not in my main neighbourhood. I'm guessing that because it is a big, detailed lot, that it didn't like the sheer number of customised lots I had in my main neighbourhood. So, if anyone else is having this problem and has a CC or house heavy neighbourhood, then try the lot in shopping or Downtown where there is (presumably) less stuff! This may work, unless what you said about moving it into a different neighborhood was what this person already said. You moved the lot into the shopping district?

Also, if what Zoe says doesn't work, you could take aerial pictures of it and attempt to build it for yourself. I do that sometimes because I don't like to download lots.
