So, I've FINALLY decided how I want to texture hairs. I'm going to texture them in Pooklet's textures [V2 or V3] for straight hair, Nymphy's for curly. I'm going to do them all in Pooklet's naturals. Problem = it is really hard for me to make simple decisions sometimes. You should have seen me trying to Gen. and Town. this set of eyes and I had the HARDEST time deciding whether they should be dominant or recessive. It was just... bad. So, I need help with four hair colours. Help me decide where to bin them, pretty please? Brisance: red or brown? Comburent: red or yellow? Grenade and Primer: blonde or grey? Maybe the choices will be a lot more obvious to make for you. I was thinking about making an option to have Grenade and Primer as greys, since they seem really grey to me rather than blonde. Also, yes, I am doing the Gentle hair mesh over again! I decided I wanted to redo it since my first attempt bothered me :P.

Personally, I see them as brown, yellow/blonde, blonde and blonde, respectively. But I see where there can be conflict when trying to decide where they should go! I see next to no difference between Grenade and Primer though.

Thanks for the input! Yeah, there really is no difference between G and P, except Primer is a bit lighter I guess. I personally don't think I'll have them in my own game.

Pooklet him/herself bins them:
Family 1: Black: dynamite Brown: depth charge Blonde: incendiary Red: explosive
Family 2: Black: shrapnel Brown: safety fuse Blonde: volatile Red: pyrotechnic
Family 3: Black: land mine Brown: fission Blonde: grenade Red: comburent
Family 4: Black: flashpowder Brown: brisance Blonde: primer Red: molotov
So, respectively for your pictures, I'd personally bin them brown, red, blonde, and blonde.

Thanks for that Samantha. I always hate how there isn't a fourth grey, though.

Agreed. I stick mail bomb on them all and call it a day. Hat did a fourth, though, I think. I think he/she has an open policy. Question: how do you do your hair? Do you run actions or follow the manual instructions?

Oh, really? I never knew that! Will have to grab that, thanks for the link (:
I'm not sure if this is answering your question properly, but I just follow the instructions listed in the notepad. What do you mean by actions?
Also, do you know if you have to add greys to the families?

I'm not really sure, to be totally honest (I do it manually from the notepad, too). I'm still new to Photoshop myself, but I think there's a way to pre-store actions. I don't know if they exist for Pooklet's colors, but I was looking at Eva colors the other day, and they're by action only.
As I said, I'm still really new to Photoshop and hair re-texturing, but I believe that people do grays differently creator to creator. You can bin a gray hair as a gray hair (the SimsPE code is something like 00000050000, but I'd have to look it up to say for sure), and you can link the file to a family (I'm not sure if one gray file can be linked to more than one family--I wouldn't think so, but I don't know for sure).
I personally don't family/link the grays myself. When I'm retexturing, say, dynamite, I'll just make the elder files of the hair gray, if that makes any sense (my guess is that people who like their elders to keep their color don't do this). But since I do all sixteen colors with mail bomb for the elder, I also include the three grays--pipe bomb, mail bomb, and time bomb--as separate files, all available ages, binned custom, not linked to anything (technically they can be deleted without harm, if somebody doesn't want them).
I honestly don't know which is the more correct/accepted way, or if it even matters. Either way, the elders still have gray hair. Hmm..I think I'll ask around about this and let you know, because I've always been curious myself.
Were you planning to do all of Pooklet's naturals, or just a select few (I'm just curious, 'cause I know you've only been doing a select few)?

I've decided I want to start doing all of Pooklet's naturals, but I'm just wondering what would happen if you, say, made a family but then deleted one hair colour from it. Would it mess them all up or simply keep working? Also, I wanted to know if you could make a family without a grey because this one hair mesh doesn't have an elder age, it's only for adults. Interesting about the action thing though. Would make it a lot easier, that's for sure! I'll have to look that up. Thanks for the information so far (: EDIT: so I just searched it and found this at GOS -- and wow, that will deffinately make it a whole lot easier! I'm going to try this out right now.

Ahh! I'm in love with you right now. That makes life about one hundred billion times easier. I just loaded all of Pooklet's, Lilith's, and Io's actions--so guess what you guys are getting within the next few days!
Also, I just checked for you about the family thing: if you delete one color in a family of four, the family will continue to work for the other three colors so long as you don't click into the bin of the color that you deleted. Once you click into the bin of the deleted color (say, blonde), the hair turns Maxis, and will stay in Maxis even if you click into one of the other bins (say black or red). I tested that in Body Shop, not actually in the game, though I should think it would work the same.
You can make a family without a gray; I do it all the time.

Personally I'd say brown (red if you want), blonde (red if you want), custom, blonde.
