So for about a week, I've been working on making an alien skin tone to match my favorite skin set, and I can't decide if I actually like what I've come up with (I can't decide if the skin looks alien...or like a sickly human). [/img] The alien skin and the skin that I used as a base for it. i.imgur.com/ozYZK.jpg[/img] The skin on a few Sims that I extracted from Strangetown. Sorry for the massive pictures. I didn't resize.
What do you guys honestly think? I know I posted about this already on my Tumblr, so one or two of you maybe have seen this already. I don't know if it needs to be darker, perhaps more bluish, or if it's okay how it is currently. The color comes from an action, and I know it's slightly pixelated, but there's not much more that I can do for that besides go in and gaussian-blur the offending spots. As for the favor, would anybody like to throw this skin in his/her game and look at it for me? Pictures would be nice (so I could see how it looks in someone else's game), but all I really want is some feedback. You can grab the file here. Thank you!

I think it looks really good for an alien skintone. I popped it into my game and I think it looks really nice one my random CAS Sim I created just for this: EDIT: Sorry for the short little comment there, but last night I was working on an essay and right now I have to get ready for school! I agree with Zoe, though; maybe try out a blue and see if you like that one, or maybe even keep both the green and blue? Also, I was just wondering which skin set this is.

I really like it, but I honestly think that maybe a bit more of a bluish color would suit it better. Not so much that it's entirely different, but... just a little. But seriously, I think it looks awesome right now. I think I'll throw it in my game and check it out before decided if that's my serious opinion. Expect an edit of this.

Thank you guys for doing this. Okay. I can try to give it a slightly more bluish tint (I am actually thinking about making a few different recolors--green, blue, and purple--because I'm currently using a blue default in my game and I really like it. But I haven't found a good blue alien action for that sadly, so I don't know yet what exactly I'm going to do). I can fiddle around with the green skin, though. I'll post some pictures once I have time to open up Body Shop/my game. Caitlin, the original skin set is Anva's Skin for Your Bones, though the base for this alien skin is one of my edits, so they don't have any lashes.

Sorry for getting a bit off-topic here: but ohhh, they're very nice, and I like your lash-less version. Have you made a Gen+Town. version?

Not yet. I am planning to do so, though; I just haven't had extreme amounts of time to sit down and play my game in a while. I'll probably do some sort of genetics dump at my LJ, since I have these alien skins, possibly an alien eye, those gen/town. skins, and also a gen/town. set of eyes. So...soon. (And thank you; I'm glad you like my lashless version.)

Oh hey, I just wanted to point out that my installation program can't unzip .package files. Is a there a program that can, or could you maybe upload it as a .zip or .rar file? Thanks.

.package files are the files that the game recognizes. You just have to throw it in your downloads folder as is. I didn't bother putting it in a RAR archive because it was only one file. Sorry about that!

Oh, oops! That's what I get when I try downloading things at one in the morning. I guess my brain wasn't working. Okay, well I'm about to open up Body Shop, so I'll take a look at the skin in there and then I'll take some pictures of it in-game. Thank you for helping my slow brain along!

I will have a look at it in-game too, if you don't mind. I rather like that shade of green, though I do understand your 'sickly human' fears. I prefer more 'coloured' alien sims myself, but it's your game, your aesthetics and I do think this would pass as an alien or supernatural skin tone. Edit: Here's how it came out in my game! Female has make-up, male has none, and all shots are unedited. I think it definitely functions as a alien skintone, though I do think it could do with more blue tones. The pixelation is pretty clear also, in the bodyshots, but it's not too bad from far away. I think this is a cool project though, and I'd definitely be interesting in downloading the finished product (products...?) if you settle on a recolour you're happy with.

Thank you, simey. I tried looking into making a bluish-green recolor today, but the pixelation was really bad. The issue is that Anva's original skins already have a certain amount of pixelation to them (which I don't mind because, in my opinion, they're beautiful regardless), and any dark recoloring brings it out like whoa. Ugh. I don't know. There used to be a tutorial on recoloring darker skins, but the link's dead. Me and this skin need some time apart from each other right now, I think. Hah. Thank you, everybody! I appreciate the feedback. I'll have updates on this...eventually.

It's been something like eight months, but I've finally gotten around to finishing up this alien skin recolor. It's exactly the same as the one I shared with you guys, but it's got a thumbnail on the custom version and even a default option. It can be found here, if anybody's interested. Thanks again to all you guys who looked at this in-game for me.

Once again Samantha, I am obsessed with your Sims! I love the skin; I may have to break my rule about only having Pooklet skins in my game just so I can get this one...
By the way.. do you know where you got those freckles from? I've been looking for some decent ones lately.

Thank you so much. Anva's skin is really pretty, hence why I've put so much effort into fixing it up. I've never really found another skin that I like as much as these; all others have been too grayish for my tastes, even Pooklet's. The freckles that I use for most of my Sims come from jesstheex's many sets, here, here, here, here, and here. I use others sometimes, but mainly these. She has some really great sets. If you're in the market for other make up as well, I would also recommend looking through the rest of her LiveJournal. There's some really nice eyeshadows, etc.
