Hey simmers, I was just wondering, how do your sims celebrate the holidays? Do they have a christmas party? A new Years Eve countdown? Invite all the friends over for hanukkah? Or do they just live their lives as normal? My Sims have a lot of friends and/or relatives come over for christmas (whenever I decide that is... ) and exchange presents and then everyone eats a buffet style lunch and raids the mini bar! SHARE YOUR STORIES! regards, coocoosim

Once I made my sims celebrate Christmas. I used snow terrain paint, had a Christmas tree up, and decorated the house (as best I could) with holiday trimmings. It was fun, but I don't normally have my sims celebrate holidays. I tried to make my sims celebrate Hanukkah, but I'm not familiar with that holiday and ended up not doing it. I guess for Halloween I could count all those times I've dressed townies and premades up in elaborate costumes or make them cosplay random characters. But even then it was more of a, "I'm bored and I feel like dressing this person up like a transvestite/Goth/Pirate/Lumberjack/Insert-random-anime-cosplay-here/Whatever-I-feel-like at the moment!" than an actual, "I think I'll dress my sims up add creepy things to their homes for Halloween." I guess I sort of like the idea of celebrating holidays, but mostly I just play my game without them. Normally, I don't even make my sims give gifts to one another. Not even when the Want comes up, which it does frequently during the Winter season. Your idea of inviting a bunch of sims over to celebrate and give gifts sounds cool, though.

I've tried to celebrate this year, starting with Halloween. Halloween went down well (I dressed the household I was wearing in "costumes" and took a few pictures. When Thanksgiving came I had this whole idea of inviting the entire family over, having some kind of dinner, and taking a family picture. But I quickly found out that getting 13 sims to sit still at the same time was practically impossible, so my dinner got cancled due to frustration. For some reason I didn't do anything at Christmas besides put a few trees up in my simmy homes... I kind of like doing holiday themed projects around the holidays, like building a Christmasy house or writing a scary story for Halloween, but I never have much time to do that, so it usually never happens.

I usually just change the seasons setting to winter and put up a Christmas tree. I also make a point to put them in sweaters and boots ;D
