I'm trying to see if uninstalling some expansion packs will stop my Sims game from lagging uncontrollably every five minutes. I've decided my top games I'd keep installed is my H&M Fashion Stuff, as well as Nightlife and Celebration Stuff since that comes with my Sims 2 Double Deluxe game.
You can vote on all the options. I believe in the end my highest amount of games to uninstall will be five. I'm having a hard time deciding because I want to keep certain base game furniture in my game.

I don't have enough of those EPs and SPs to have a really informed vote (you have so many!) but it all depends on how you like to play. I, for example, could never live without University, and I find OFB really fun. Perhaps uninstalling some stuff packs? Obviously they won't free up as much space as an EP, but they don't really add much to game play (or at least in my opinion). I guess I'll vote for the SPs then. If I had to choose an EP, I'd say Pets (even though I don't actually have that EP), because, well, you can live without them, right?
Just out of curiosity, how big is your downloads folder?

I forgot to add Apartment Life, though I could never live without that expansion pack either. My Downloads folder is rather... huge... I'm planning on getting a new computer by the time Christmas rolls around next year. I haven't played Sims at all because it lags horribly, glitches, but I know I can't live without most of the huge expansion packs + ginormous Downloads folder (my computer is an older version, though its an Acer with Windows 7). This is actually my new, cleaned-out version and I'm not even finished it.. Good idea about getting rid of the Stuff Packs though, and I probably would get rid of Pets, though the only thing holding me back from uninstalling University and FreeTime is some of the pieces of furniture I adore in those games. With all the custom content I own though, I really shouldn't be whining about not having any furniture!

I was about to say: SO MUCH CC. I have about 6GB myself, but despite a long initial loading time and some occasional buggy graphics my laptop handles it fine. I would suggest clearing some of that out first, as you have done, but I know it's difficult/daunting to do! Seriously though, CC causes more lag than the EPs do, from my experience. It really depends on your personal preference what EPs/SPs you think you can live without, but I voted according to what ones I thought added the least/the most unimportant stuff to gameplay.

Thanks guys for your input :] I am honestly thinking of redoing it ONE MORE TIME and making myself extremely disciplined about what I download. I think I'll let myself download hair and clothing, but cut back all the furniture I've downloaded (3.40GB).

Part of me loves the idea of starting afresh with CC, but I'm always afraid I'll lose something that's no longer to be found online if I delete my old downloads completely. I think hair takes up about 2 GB of my downloads folder... Wish I'd been more OCDish about organisation and subfolders, so it'd be easier to delete the stuff I don't use!

When I got my new computer, I absolutely loved starting clean and re-downloading and organizing my CC. Granted, my downloads folder has never been over 2 GB so I didn't really lose much, but I'm so much more organized now and I only have what I really use/need.

My game has stopped being constantly laggy! I randomly decided to delete this other user account that was on my computer (no clue why it was even on here in the first place) and then opened up my Sims game. Once in game it actually didn't lag once, except for when I invited several people over to her house while it was snowing (I really need to take off the winter season, since it lags up my entire lot). I still believe I am going to uninstall the expansion packs you guys have recommended, thanks again for recommending in the first place :]
