On the original website, how you got the game, and your first time playing?
I remember begging my grandparents to buy me the game. I was nine at the time. They took it in consideration for about two months. One day, we were at Circuit City (Yeah, that's how long ago it was) and it was on sale.
So that's the story of how I got it.
The first family I made was 'The Stewart Family'. About a year ago, I found the family saved on my computer. I almost cried while uninstalling it, seeing how far I've gotten from then. But on with the story. The mother was named Lorelie Stewart, brown hair with blue eyes. She also had on the Brandi Broke outfit. Her husband was named Robert, another Brunette, with brown eyes. They had two children, Amy and Elizabeth. Brunette's with blue eyes. Amy was a child, Elizabeth a toddler. They moved into that cream-colored one story in Pleasantview, you know the one. I spent all the money on one bed. Elizabeth was taken up by the Social Worker, due to not having a fridge. Amy painted so much it wasn't even funny. I started crying at how much I hated the game to my grandparents because the mom smelled and was walking around in her underpants, the toddler was taken away, the child was failing school, and the father wouldn't get a job.
I played the Goth family. I got freaked out when you clicked on something and the giant head would pop up. Lol. I thought Mortimer and Cassandra were married, and Alexander was there child XD Then I heard about Bella. Haha, I actually thought Bella was there teenaged daughter. I have no idea why I thought this.
That was my first time playing.
The first time I was on the website, I was practically in awe at the amoutn of stuff they had in the store. I thought the forums were an evil place, the exchange involved money and exchanging items with others, and the 'Cool Stuff' was the coolest thing.
Boy, was I wrong about the site.
So, I'd love to hear your stories about your first time. ;D

My cousins came over when I was very young, about 3, and they had The Sims 1 on their computer and I fell in love with it. We bought it and I've been playing the games ever since I was 3 years old LOL. Of course, I just filled the houses with pretty furniture and then they'd die.

My first Sims experience... I was maybe 6? Or something. I was at my then beat friend's house and we played the Sims Makin' Magic. I basically made this guy called Eric... and if I remember rightly, he had 'an obsession with pink flamingoes'. Well we had a huge family that we'd made and an awesome house... Then I accidentally quit without saving :L Then I begged my dad to get me the Sims for a couple of years until he finally relented. Then, I hated it because it didn't have the same cool furniture that my friend had, and I couldn't use the money cheat.
I got the Sims 2 Pets in 2006, without realising that I needed the basegame first, so eventually I got that too! Then I got all the red flashy walls syndrome, and uninstalled Pets.
I can't remember my first family properly, although I think the mum had blonde hair and a blonde girl toddler (who wore a green dress, if I remember rightly) and the dad had brown hair and a brown haired toddler. They weren't married, because I didn't know what 'spouse' meant in the set relationships bit.
I don't remember the first time I went on the website... It was in 2009 at the same time as the Valentines Showcase, I think, but I didn't get the Exchange, and I thought that CC all came from expansion packs! I didnt even realise that the BBS existed... Ah... I have certainly come a very long way from where I first started!!

Man, I used to live with my parents at my grandparents house for a while when I was like 4.. My Grandmother was into designing houses and such so she found the Sims 1 and bought it, bringing it home. I INSTANTLY fell in love with the game, always playing it constantly.. (my Grandmother told me that they actually ended up buying another computer.. ). I don't remember exactly what happened.. All I know is that one day the Sims 2 came out and I begged my Grandmother to get it for me. So when I was going over to her house that weekend we stopped at EB Games and she bought it for me. I remember sitting in her van, jumping up and down, opening the case and rambling on and on about how awesome the game was going to be while looking through the booklet.. xP. Finding out about the Sims 2 website? Through my Grandmother.. I don't know when, but she was like, "Caitlin, look at all the cool stuff on this website you can download!". She showed me, and then showed me this house she had where she had a bunch of people in it (including Chucky.. LOL). So I guess I got into downloading from the Sims 2 website, then eventually found out about Peggy and such and just downloaded from there ! On the original website, how you got the game, and your first time playing? I spent all the money on one bed. Elizabeth was taken up by the Social Worker, due to not having a fridge. Amy painted so much it wasn't even funny. I started crying at how much I hated the game to my grandparents because the mom smelled and was walking around in her underpants, the toddler was taken away, the child was failing school, and the father wouldn't get a job. And I don't know how I used to play my games.. or who was my first family.. I do think I got really upset and mad about how my Sims would always have crappy moods and such, too, though ^_^.

Enjoying reading this thread...... My first experience was with an old, used sims1 which I played for 2 weeks until I decided to buy sims2. It was weird in the first game ---with the crying. I mean, with the first sims game I had decided to get rid of a bird and ( I think ) some furniture. Suddenly this old lady and man started sobbing. I'm thinking " what did I do ??" Finally I decided to end their sad little lives and move some other sim in. Well, instead of starving and just keeling over, they slept. And slept and slept ; and snored . Finally they died. I can't remember at all if there even was a grim reaper in the first sims' game.
With the second sims game; the thing that stood out at first was the social bunny and falling asleep in their food !! Of course there's no social bunny in real life (at least not that I've noticed), but has anyone really fallen asleep in their food since the age of three ?? I could keep on talking about first simming oddities; but even after playing it for at least 5 years, it still hasn't gotten old---there are still new things to discover ! Like if you let Mortimer Goth greet whoever he wants on a community lot, he'll greet women almost exclusively --- at least that's been my experience. I aged Mort down to an adult, but maybe he'd still be like that as an elder ? ( ewww ! )

Wow I feel like such a newbie reading this thread because I played Sims for the first time last July! lol Well, actually I got the Sims 2 game for playstation half a year before that. I thought that was the coolest game ever until my cousin (who's also a huge sims fanatic) started to tell me what was on the computer game and I felt like I was missing so much! I originally wanted to get TS3, but it was like $50 and there was no way I was paying that for a video game. So I saw the Double Deluxe of TS2 for only $20, so I ended up buying that instead. After that I went to my grandma's house and was going crazy because I wanted to play it so bad and she doesn't have a computer. I actually read the booklet from cover to cover at least five times. I still have my first family in Pleasantview. I wanted to have the whole spectrum of ages, so I made this huge family and put them in this small little house and since I was so used to the PS2 version, everything confused me so much! It took me forever to figure out how to move my sims, how to work the buy and build mode, and how to adjust the walls. I couldn't understand why you couldn't actually walk your people everywhere like on the PS2. And then since I had such a huge family, I couldn't keep up with them all, the mom and grandpa had nervous breakdowns all the time, the teenage daughter fell asleep in her food constantly, the son never got his homework done and was failing school, and the toddler was always stuck in her crib because no one ever had enough patience to let her out. Then somehow the aging off cheat got stuck on it and no one would grow up. Ah, good times, good times. I should really play them again and try to get their lives sorted out. The first time I was on the website... I don't know. November maybe? It wasn't that long ago. I just remember how cool it was that I could ask other people what to do if some weird glitch happned. I never really use the exchange much, I just normally browse through that.

Well it was around the time when they first introduced TS3. Even as a child TS2 was always on my eye. I remember when I was 7 or 8 I was asking my dad "Hey daddy, what's this game?" He'd reply "A grown-up game." HAHA!! Well he was wrong. When I was 11, in November, I was at Target wanting so badly to buy the game. I had $$ so I got it and Uni right away. After I installed I quickly created a family of 4 (not knowing about cheats or how to pay correctly) I forgot their last name but I remembered it started with an "R" and was a strange last name. OH! It was Radeanburg... or something like that. They had a mom, dad, teen daughter, and a kid son. All crammed in a Pleasantview condo. Luckily, I knew how to build (a little) safely too, had enough simoleans to survive. Sooner or later the kids refused to do their homework and the little boy was to be taken away. So I quickly moved then out without saving. Then I made another 6 people family called the McGuire's. (lol ) And they could only afford their house and a kitchen and bathroom furnishing. So I moved them out too. I started to play the goths and married Cassie to Don (not knowing) and was sad. Then, I learned about cheats. Everything was good from there until my dad reset my game. Now, my game is tip-top shape and if I could change a few things, I would. Will I restart again?--probably not.

Well, I was about six years old when I first saw the original Sims, but took no interest because I thought it looked somewhat ugly. A few years later, I was at my cousin's house, when I saw them playing the Sims 2, and instantly took an interest in it. It was around Christmas of 2004, a few months after its release. I saw that it was like a virtual dollhouse, so I asked what it was and they said it was a Sims game. Somewhere in the summer or 2005, when I was like nine or ten or something, my cousins finally let me play and I ended up taking it home with me after a few weeks and they said I could keep it. At the time, I was a complete newbie and had no idea how to do anything. In fact, I hadn't known how to change the aspects of the game (graphics, audio, et cetera) until maybe two or three years ago. I don't remember my first play, but I think the first family I played was the Goths or it was Don. But not sure. And I had found the site around January 1st, 2008. I didn't get my account until mid-2008, but I loved looking at everything and only found out there were other content sites about a year ago. </shame>

I almost 'broke' our internet because I downloaded so much stuff. I still do that now... I get carried away on downloading sprees! I'm still trying to teach my brother how downloading CC works, and he's simmed for longer than me...

We have almost unlimited internet now so we don't cap. Back when I was 8 we didn't know about download limits, on peak off peak, capping etc.

I was at a family gathering. My grandson had to show me his new game TS1. He loved building so much that I watched him most of the evening and forgot to talk to the adults. My husband said I was rude. I bought the game the next day but I got the complete collection. It was only $29. I loved to build but at first I built enormous houses and when I put in furniture it looked to small in the giant rooms! I didn't know any cheats so I had to play legal for a long time. That was probably a good thing but frustrating as heck. Picture a granny crying as both the mom and the little boy of a family burned up in a kitchen fire. I kept trying to bring them back and built this whole shrine thing in the back garden of the house. I hated losing the kids to the social worker and would have them study at home so their grades would stay up when they didn't want to go to school. I wish sims 2 had that option if kids refused to go to school. I also miss the winter holiday site. There was so much to do there. Finally my grandson called and said I had to see his university that he built with sims 2. It was awesome! I retired my sims 1 and started buying sims 2. I love it. I play almost every day. I found the site by accident when I clicked on the link that pops up with the game starter. A whole bunch more simmers? Wow so I spent some of every sims session on the site. That is when I started my CC obsession. I loved uploading my houses too. It took forever for me to understand the way the site worked and I didn't do anything with my page for ages. I thought I must be the oldest simmer but I was wrong. Someone said there was an 80+ simmer and I could totally understand that.
