Okaaaay, so I know that The Sims Resource is bad, and not to download from there... But I accidentally stumbled across it yesterday, when I was on a downloading spree, and well... It just looks the same as any other downloads site, so it got me wondering; what actually makes it so bad? I mean, I know there's something... But what is it? Honestly, I don't know, and I'd like to... Just because I'm nosy(?) like that... Ps: Rants are cool too ;D

They have done a lot nasty stuff, from forcing other sites to shut down, to charging for glitchy content and sharing private info. Quite frankly I'm too lazy to list it all but you can read all of their evil doings here: tsr.mustbedestroyed.org/

Yeah, they tried to shut down ModTheSims or something forever ago, and allied up with EA, and I think even saying MTS2 was not allowed on the BBS. Although I don't remember all the details anymore. It was a while ago.
Plus people said that you can get viruses from just being on the site, let alone download stuff from it. Don't know if they've cleaned things up by now, but I still would never use it.

The advertisements give viruses and many have complained about it to TSR but they don't care as long as they get their moneys.

I'll make a list . "They" refers to TSR, the people who run it, or the people who upload to it. - They charge you money for content, which is against the Sims terms of service
- They steal parts of other creator's work in their uploads and often charge money for them
- They give you viruses
- They have given out users' personal info
- They got GOS shut down for a while

The creator, I think his name is Thomas, is basically a nasty scum bag. They've gotten a lot of other sites shut down and black mail the creators. To get them to shut down, they 'report' false info to the hosts. I can't think of any other sites they've shut down besides GoS but it's a lot. They're not quite as active with mischief now.

If you want a laugh there were some good conversations and legal threats between Thomas and Pescado (owner of psmbd) somewhere on the net, or I think it was those two, but basically TSR are a mighty arrogant force with little to nothing to be arrogant about. Because if you don't have customer satisfaction, then your business is set up to fail eventually. And they are also believed to be involved with EA somehow because EA loves them.

Also- Quite often things in the free section are moved to the pay section. Which is really annoying when you try to redownload something and it has been moved to the pay section. I downloaded one thing on The Sims Resource, then relaised how bad it was. Regards, Coocoosim
