Lately I've been considering the idea of continuing my story without pictures, especially taking into consideration the fact that the Exchange has been experiencing problems with uploading and I'm hosting it on LiveJournal, anyway. I hate picture-taking, but I rather like the way my pictures turn out. And I wouldn't want to disappoint anybody who does look forward to seeing the pictures along with the text.
So what I would like to know is people's thoughts on this. Do you personally prefer to read stories with or without pictures? Or does it not matter to you one way or another? Please answer honestly, as I'd really appreciate feedback of all sorts.

I much prefer pictures. They make the story much easier and more enjoyable to read. Otherwise, the whole story is basically one big block of text. Pictures split of blocks of text much better than only starting new paragraphs would. Then again, if you don't have enough time for pictures, a pictureless story is better than no story at all .

If you don't like 'big blocks of text' just make paragraphs. That's what they're made for. I prefer story-less pictures because I like using my imagination for things.

Thank you guys so much for your input. It's nice to hear views on boths sides.
I, personally, do not have a preferance. It depends on the quality of the writing for me: if the author seems as though he or she has a clue, and if the story is entertaining, I'd most likely give it a chance.

I find if an author knows there will be pictures, they put less effort in description.

I like some pictures... or lots, though I don't think there has to be lots, even if there's only five or six pictures to a 20-side story. I just like to be reminded it is a Sim story, rather than just any other story that's just a lump of text and can be found on many of the other writing sites

Without the pictures, it would be turned into something I could find on fictionpress. That's the good thing about Sims stories - the pictures make them more unique from other stories.

I like pictures to see what the characters look like for the chapter. Seeing pictures on every slide is annoying at times, and a bit useless. But I just like to read stories.

I find if an author knows there will be pictures, they put less effort in description. Agreed. Or, contrarily, I've also seen it where the author over-describes, feeling the need to explain every little detail of every little object pictured.

If you don't like 'big blocks of text' just make paragraphs. True , but that's not exactly what I meant. Like when you read a book, there are different pages to split up the text. With online stories, if there are no pictures, it seems like you're just endlessly scrolling, and I constantly lose my place .

I find pictures a nice accessory to the text--but if someone writes based off the pictures, then I find it incredibly annoying and usually don't read it. I like to see the pictures to increase my imagination of the scenes happening, not to be told "This is what it's supposed to look like; you must imagine this because that's what I'm describing." So basically, I'm saying the pictures should be based off the text and not the other way around. But without pictures is better than nothing at all, so if they are too much of a hassle, just continue writing as you would.

I like seeing the characters as I read - especially because it is the Sims 2. It always amazes me to see how picture editing turns out, and I appreciate it more because it's so hard to get the right angles, and get exactly what you want.
But, if you choose to go pictureless, I understand. Besides, its great to have an overactive imagination.
