Anyone know what's going to be in the new TS3 expansion pack? It seems that EA is popping these things out like there's no tomorrow.
I still haven't even caught up with Seasons yet, but I'm curious as to why they seem to be making similar expansion packs as they did for TS2 all over again for TS3.
Perhaps I'm just being a cynical old lady and everyone else is really excited.
Feelings anyone?

Well I guess if you're a cynical old lady than I'm one too. I can't understand why they're remaking every expansion pack TS2 had to TS3. I mean, it's pointless, right? If I wanted to play colleges or have weather in my sims game, I would just play TS2. I wish they would try to make something different with their eps; I've seen a lot of good ideas thrown around out there. I might actually consider buying them if it wasn't the same old thing I've been playing for years. That's one of the reasons I want Supernatural; it looks cool and interesting and different. [/rant] I also don't understand why they're bringing them out so fast. Seasons just came out a month or so ago didn't it? And then Supernatural was only like a month before that. Geez, slow it down. I know I wouldn't be able afford to spend $40 a month on new eps. But yeah, if you haven't guessed already, I'm not excited for University Life. Like at all. I never really liked playing University on TS2 (honestly, if it wasn't keeping my neighborhood ages together, I probably wouldn't send most of my sims to college). I guess I have a kind of "been there done that feeling." I'm just not interested. Although, I have seen pictures and the trailer for it, and the University itself looks interesting. I was always kind of annoyed there was no actual "class building" in TS2. It seems like there's more stuff for your college sims to do too, but I don't know if that's true or not.

I totally agree that there's no point recreating all the same expansion packs, because we may as well play sims 2 instead! BUT the trailer does look fun, and if the reviews are good I'll probably buy it IM MORE EXCITED FOR ISLAND PARADISE THOUGH! It sounds amazing and creative! You can run an island resort, travel in boats and create and customize a houseboat for your sims to live in! There's also the rumour of a new occult= mermaids and mermen!

Well, if you think about it it's probably just what Sims 3 players are demanding. If I moved on from Sims 2 and onto Sims 3, I wouldn't want to have a season-less game. That's why they're adding on more expansions packs like the Sims 2 I'm guessing. Also because EA likes money, and that's why they're also probably throwing out expansion packs that do almost-nothing to gameplay every month.

Yeah, I see what you mean with the whole user demand thing. Although, I still think the ought to have included seasons (or at least weather) in the basegame. And also, I do think EA make grabby hands when it comes money.
Still, though, back in my day you had to wait six months between expansions...! *crotchety old hag*
See, I would agree that the premise some of the EPs are quite cool, I'm actually really fond of Supernatural but so far it's the only one I've liked particularly. Island Paradise seems different again, and supposedly they're making some sort of Time travel one, or something? I don't know if that's a rumour or not, but that's one I might get. however, I thought that like, Generations was just £30 of filler that did nothing special to the game.
As well as all that, I guess reusing old TS2 expansion ideas makes it easier to reuse their old animations, though.
Oh I need to stop being so negative. University life might be halfway decent and I shouldn't be judging it on my needless angst.

I don't play TS3, but what Caitlin says sounds familiar. I feel like a lot of TS3 players were demanding Uni (or at least that's what I saw on Tumblr). It looks cool to me, but like I said, I don't play TS3 (and I'm a creature of habit/staunch opponent of change, so I would be most likely to go for something that's just like TS2 anyway).
But, yeah, it does seem pointless to just recreate the TS2 expansions for TS3. Hey, EA's a company, and if it'll sell, you can't really blame them.
