Has anyone experienced reformats with their computers? I *just* got one, and I am devastated. Not only did I lose my beloved Sims 2 files and CC, but I lost a bunch of other stuff too like drawings and writing stuff... It's going to be a pain to redownload all that CC. I also need to reinstall the game itself but most of my EPs and SPs are missing (no idea where they are, maybe lent to an ex friend?). I might use other means to get my games back onto my computer. Downloading them is perfectly legal if you purchased the game itself, which I have.

Oh yes, I know it very well. The two laptops I used to play Sims on, got through about 5 or 6 hard-drives between them. And I willingly re-formatted this one last week. I remember it being horrible the first two time - not to mention frustrating. But afterwards it almost becomes second nature and sort of mechanical, you just get on with it, reinstall every program, re-download fonts, brushes, CC and all of that, and realise that your PC is much faster now than it was before. I'm not sure what to do if you've not got your discs, though you'll have to ask on the EA forum and they'll sort you out hopefully. But I wouldn't attempt to download them just yet, because you have to pay before downloading from the store, and many of the torrent versions may have been found out now and not work. If you've registered your games to your account then EA will have the codes and proof of purchase, so hopefully they'll help you out

Not all of my games are registered nor did I purchase any in the online store, unfortunately, so this is my only choice. My brother is quite 'skilled' in downloading torrents, so we'll just do that. I just realized how much of a pain it is to get back all of my CC. I had over 50,000, sure my game lagged but I was very content! I had lots of mods and default replacements that I have forgotten... This is all the stuff I've downloaded in about 2 years. I guess now I can rebuild my game with only high quality junk and sort it out better. Plus, good thing, I uploaded my Saige legacy Sims so I will redownload the founder and start over again, even though they won't give birth to the same kids, I'm sure I'll love them just as much!

So far I've been lucky not to have a reformat. I would lose a lot of important photos and documents if I did. So I'm bene ing you for the reminder to back up important items. I do know how it feels to lose sims families and neighborhoods because I've done that three times already through glitches and VBT I've done. So add my condolences for your loss - it is like a loss isn't it?

Thanks for the bene - have one in return. It is quite heartbreaking and surprisingly my family can understand it! I have a cool family.

Oh man.. I had to get my one computer completely replaced once because it was broken.. Constantly and randomly shut down while I was on it. Didn't feel like getting it fixed so I just eventually got my new Acer computer to replace the broken, HP (Harry Potter) one.
I actually like redownloading everything though. I never really play a family long enough to get attatched to it, and when something goes wrong I just redo it all, make the new Downloads folder more tidy and such. Sometimes I'll do that even if there is no problems.. I'm weird, I know..
I'm sorry for you losing your legacy family though.. They were so pretty D:. Hopefully your new legacy will end up great as well, though(:

My new one is going great. I've got similar themes in it - two mothers, alien triplets (this time) and right now they have a son and a daughter. I'm in the making of family portraits and then I'll make a thread about them. I made the old children of the old legacy in the adoption pool. I can't find Chika though, which upsets me. She doesn't seem to install when I download the file.
